Buddha.

This was supposed to be a post on Buddhism.

Its origin, the guy, what it’s about, the rules and the steps to become enlightened.

What you should do and stop doing, as a Buddhist.

All that stuff.

Or at least a bunch of that stuff.

But when I explored it online, I got bored and lost really quickly.

So much information, scholars that disagree on dates and meaning (ugh), the splitting up into groups that don’t like each other’s version (another ugh), and a shitload of principles and rules.

Bo-ring.

Now I’m not a specialist on this topic and maybe that’s helpful, because there’s one thing most people don’t realize:

Buddhism is not about Buddhism.

The aim of Buddhism is not to become a professional Buddhist.

Just like meditation is not about becoming a world champion meditator.

It’s not about that.

All religions, all spiritual philosophies as we know them right now, are mere interpretations of very basic stuff and really simple messages, often taken out of context and then retold, recreated, complexified, and messed up.

It seems that the really simple messages, the direct pointers, are lost in translation.

Buddhism is about the recognition of our true nature.

About Oneness.

It’s about the peace of mind in the background of all the fuss.

And there’s literally nothing you need to do to get that or see that or earn that.

It was always already there.
