Taming the beast.
Craving.
It’s like a dull emptiness.
A pulling desire.
It calls for your attention and if you don’t give it, it will creep into your system.
It will grow.
It will make you angry.
Or sad.
Or frustrated.
Or it will result in a devilish mix of all of those things.
It will try shit to get you to go where it wants you to go.
To have the drink.
To smoke the smoke.
To pick up the phone.
To flip through the self-help book.
To find the distraction you so desperately need.
Craving is interesting.
It’s a physically emotional hunger.
It’s like a painless pain.
A growing, endless hole that is also a wave.
It will scream and shout, and it will beg.
And if you don’t give in, it will fill you up, more and more.
Pushing you.
Pulling you.
Threatening you.
Until you give in.
