The road to success.

Quite often, clients ask me this one question:

“What did you do to get where you are?”

And it’s a sensible question in a sensible world.

But there’s no such world to begin with.

Asking this question is like asking Tiger Woods how he holed the winning putt.

It’s like asking Messi how he scored the goal of the year.

Or asking Nadal how he hit the ball that secured the tournament.

Those things happen, because of the time and the place and the history of everything, of all things.

They happen because of the stars and the moon and the unfolding of life.

They happen because it’s obviously time for them to happen.

There is no specific road, no specific path you can walk to get anywhere in life.

Except for YOUR path.

Trying to imitate a (successful) person is as useless as it is naïve.

And even though Woods and Messi and Nadal can tell you about the hours of practice and all the hardship and the willpower, they simply knew what to do in the moment.

It was time.

Getting there is up to you.

Getting to where your version of brilliant putting or scoring can happen, is as personal as personal can be.

There’s no roadmap, no specific thing to do, it’s all just fucking around and learning shit and then doing that all over again.

I know it’s not the advice you might want to hear.

But it’s exactly how I got where I am.
