The Unwinnable Game.
Let’s generalize a little.
Everybody wants attention.
Even if you think you’re just sharing your life because you simply want to share your life.
Even if you believe that you don’t need likes or other forms of digital appreciation (because you still do).
It’s not sharing if nobody’s reading or watching it.
That would be more like throwing bottled letters into the sea.
We want an audience, even just a small one.
And that’s the problem.
Not wanting an audience, but finding an audience that’s not already heavily preoccupied with all the posts from everybody else who’s looking for an audience.
There’s too much stuff.
Way, way too much.
And each time you blink your eyes or take a breath there are a thousand new blogs, one hundred more podcasts, and at least a thousand more videos on YouTube.
There are just too many people pushing their lives and ideas and offers.
Too many platforms.
And too much at stake FOR those platforms, so they do whatever they can to keep us hooked.
